WEST AFRICAN CENTRE FOR CELL BIOLOGY OF INFECTIOUS PATHOGENS
COLLEGE OF BASIC AND APPIED SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF GHANA
NEW POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) is introducing a new postdoctoral fellowship programme as part of the Wellcome Trust Developing Excellence in Leadership Training and Science (DELTAS) project that was recently awarded to the University of Ghana. WACCBIP is co-hosted by the Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (BCMB) and the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), University of Ghana, and has several regional and international partner institutions.
The WACCBIP-DELTAS postdoctoral fellowship programme aims to support recent PhD graduates to undertake research projects of interest to them, in an environment that promotes the development of leadership skills and networking with other scientists in Africa. The goal is to provide funding and mentorship for the postdoctoral fellows to establish their independent research careers prior to taking up full faculty positions in the University of Ghana or in other African institutions. As such, the fellows will be expected to do only minimal teaching, while focusing the majority of their time on research. Twelve postdoctoral awards will be made to successful applicants and each fellow can access up to $150,000.00 over three years, for costs including salary, research costs, conference attendance, and other research-related expenses.
Interested applicants can obtain further information, eligibility requirements and download full fellowship application forms at http://waccbip.ug.edu.gh/. Deadline for applications is 30th November 2015.
